Ex-militant Tompolo (Government Ekpemupolo) is said to have acquired six warships recently worth millions of dollars. The warships consist of six motor torpedo boats and a Norwegian made warship HNOMS (A530).
These warships fitted with guns were said to have been bought by Tompolo’s company; Global West Vessel Specialist Ltd. This move by Tompolo is said to have made other tribes in the riverine areas of Niger-Delta uncomfortable. But Mr. Patrick Akpolokemi, Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has come out to say that Tompolo bought these warships on behalf of the agency and Nigerian navy. Now the million dollar question on the lips of many is that does it mean the Nigerian navy does not know where to buy warships?
