Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi is now on bended knees begging his political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to forgive him for his political sins.

Insiders squealed to us that this explained why the senator stormed the seventh convocation ceremony of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, where Tinubu was conferred with an honourary doctorate degree in Public Administration.

For those who don’t know, Afikuyomi has a long history of fighting Tinubu for political reasons. In 2007 during the Lagos governorship election, he fought Tinubu for anointing Babatunde Raji Fashola as his successor.

Afikuyomi defected from the Action Congress to the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) to contest the governorship election and lost.

Thereafter, he ran back to Tinubu with his tail between his legs and was appointed Commissioner for Tourism.

It is interesting to know that it was Afikuyomi that was the Chairman of the Lagos State primaries of the All Progressives Congress held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, in May 2017 where he was beaten blue-black by party thugs.

In the last governorship election in Lagos State, he decamped to the Accord Party (AP) to work against Tinubu’s anointed candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
