The Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Joshua Okpo is dead. Sources said the veteran journalist and former editor of The Chronicle Newspaper slumped and died suddenly.

It is interesting to know that the late Joshua Okpo practically transformed the Maritime Academy of Nigeria under his tenure as rector. The deceased hails from Cross River State. He left behind the wife and children. He will be remembered by the maritime community as a man who gave his all to take the Maritime Academy of Nigeria to the next level.

He won several awards across Africa. He won the Maritime Personality of the year award at the Top Celebrities Achievers Awards 2013.
