Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Begs

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has apologized over the assault on a journalist recently at the banquet hall of the presidential villa, Abuja by his security aides.

Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Laolu Akande on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 expressed regret over the incident via his Twitter page.

He wrote; “The needless scuffle between a villa accredited photographer, Mr. Adeshida and one of our security aides earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted and I have apologized to him for any embarrassment caused.”

For those who don’t know, a photo-journalist with Vanguard Newspaper, Abayomi Adeshida was assaulted by the VP’s security aide at the banquet hall of the presidential villa in Abuja where the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) chaired by Abike Dabiri-Erewa organised a summit.

Interestingly, Adeshida was taking photographs of the vice president at the exhibition stand when the Department of State Services (DSS) operatives pounced on him as Osinbajo was being presented a copy of the magazine as souvenir.

However, Adeshida revealed that he was not told his offence… “I did not do anything out of the ordinary before the security operatives started hitting me,” he said.
