My Plan Is To Transform FMC Abeokuta To A Teaching Hospital – MD

The new Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu has not only pledged to improve the standard of the hospital but also planning to transform the hospital to a Teaching hospital.

Olomu who disclosed this while playing host to the newly elected executives of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun Chapter, in his office further assured high medical ethics.

The Medical Director stated that the management would partner with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) to achieve the vision.

“My utmost plan is to transform this place to a teaching hospital and we are going to partner FUNAAB to achieve this vision,” he said.

He explained that the primary assignment of FMC was to attend to people, saying that the welfare of the hospital workers is paramount to the management.

The Medical Director also assured that the unnecessary rivalry between medical doctors and other health workers that had bedevilled the institution before now had been resolved.

He disclosed that despite his position as the Medical Director, he still discharged his duty as a surgeon, adding that the workers were efficient and cooperative.

“Very soon I will celebrate my 100 days in office and I want to assure you that all our plans and achievements will be presented on that day,” he said.

In his address, Mr Wale Adewumi, the Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel, said the chapel would continue to support FMC whenever the need arises.

Adewumi urged the management to take the welfare of the staff of the hospital seriously, promising balanced reportage of activities of the institution.
