Barring any unforeseen, the most anticipated award in the entertainment industry for recognition of good and quality music will hold on Sunday, December 14. Expectedly fans of Nigerian music will be looking forward to dance with this year’s nominees and eventual winners respectively.

Some award categories for this year’s Headies are: Best recording of the year; Iyawo Mi- Timi Dakolo, Let Somebody Love You – 2face Idibia, Always On My Mind- Nosa, Ordinary People- Cohbams Asuquo. Producer Of The Year: Don Jazzy – Dorobucci, Pheelz – Eleda Mi O, T Spize – Aye, Legendury Beatz – Caro, Shizzy-Skelewu, Del B – Pull Over.

Other categories include: Best Music Video, Best R&B/Pop Album, Best R&B Single, Best Pop Single, Best Raggea/Dance All single, Best Rap Album, Best Collabo, Best Rap Single, Hip Hop World Revelation, Lyricist On The Roll, Best Alternative Song, Album Of The Year, Artiste Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best African Artist, and Hall Of Fame.
The Headies since its inception in 2006, has recognized the distinguished achievements of artistes and entertainers in a number of categories, including Rap, RnB, Dancehall and Alternative. The event is no doubt the biggest event in Nigeria’s entertainment calendar, broadcasted live to over 10 million viewers in Africa and beyond.
According to organisers, The Headies’ committee has put together exciting activities to elevate the brand and Nigeria’s growing music industry within the international spectrum.

Last year, the dynamic duo Tiwa Savage and Dr SID opened the awards ceremony to much acclaim and for the first time, The Headies introduced a new category – “Best Alternative Song” which shed light on new exciting contenders.
Only music materials released between July 2013 and June 2014 qualified for entry. The process opened July 22, 2014 and closed August 30, 2014. Artistes whose music materials falls within the year in review, were required to submit three Audio CDs, four DVDs, a Mini DV (with the following info for each song; title, genré, producer/video director, label/management, year and month of release); and artiste’s profile; a portrait photograph (soft copy).
