Ex-Gov. Akpabio In Big Trouble

Gov. AkpabioThese are not the best of times for Ex-Gov. Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State. Those in the know squealed to us that the flamboyant politician left a lot of abandoned projects that gulfed billions of naira in the state and a huge debt burden that may consume the new governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Insiders revealed that Ibom Tropicana entertainment Centre is today uncompleted but about N100 billion was spent on it by the former governor. Also, the International Conference Centre was proposed with 5000 seat capacity and billions of naira has been spent on the project and abandoned by Ex-Gov. Godswill Akpabio.

That is all not, our sources added that the 16 storey building of Akwa Ibom Hotel is another abandoned project of the ex-governor which he equally spent billions of naira on. Yet, the ex-governor promised Akwa-Ibomites that he would complete the hotel before the end of his tenure.

We were told that Ikot Amana project is one project that the ex-governor was always boasting of completing, yet he failed woefully to deliver the project to his people. Besides, the former governor equally boasted that he would construct the Etibe Enwang Bridge as the longest bridge in Africa and he spent billions of naira on it and work done there is less than 10%.

As regards the Ibaka Deep Seaport, Ex-Gov. Akpabio simply abandoned the project after spending billions of naira. Today, the villagers living there can’t even locate where the ground breaking took place. Insiders said the ex-governor spent about N10 billion on road shows in America, UK and other European countries looking for investors and yet, nothing came out of it.
