Chief Isreal Orjiekwe’s MotherTo everything in life there is a time, a time to be born into this earth and a time to leave the earth and yet be born into a higher spiritual existence. Madam Edith Udunma Orjiekwe (Nee Obinali) has completed her sojourn on earth, taking with her a sterling record of untarnished faith in God and a brilliant achievement as a wife, mother, and role model, she has bowed out and proceeded into the next plane of life in the Lord.

Widowed at an early age, Mama Edith proved a strong amazon as she defeated her environment and succeeded in bringing up her children all alone as mother, father, supporter and provider, all rolled into one.

A vessel of honour unto God, Mama Edith never compromised her Anglican Catholic Faith. Combining fear of the Lord and the virtues of hard work, integrity and value for all people, mama brought up her children strictly in the way of the Lord. And now that they are old, they have remained in it to the glory of God and their own blessings.

That is why her departure at the age of 94, has left a big vacuum in the hearts of all her 5 beloved surviving children, and loved ones among whom is Chief Israel Orjiekwe, Akuzurumba Umuopia, Ezechinyereugo Akokwa, Chairman, Golden Destiny Hotel Group Lagos.

But the entire Orjiekwe family has taken solace in the knowledge that she rests in the Lord, her father’s house where there are many mansions. That is why they are celebrating the life of a woman who has risen tall above all adversities of life, and left indelible footprints in the sands of time, for others to follow.

A golden mother in all ramifications, Mama Edith will be laid to rest on Monday, 4th January 2016 after a Requiem mass at Christ’s Church, Umuopia, Akokwa, Ideato North local government area, Imo state.
