Former presidential candidate, Alhaji Bashir Tofa is dead.

He died on Monday morning, January 3rd, 2022 after a protracted illness. He was 74.

Family sources said; “Alhaji Bashir Tofa died after being admitted in hospital for some time.”

For those who don’t know, Tofa was one of the leading candidates in the 1993 Presidential election.

He was the Presidential Candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC).

Tofa was a major challenger of MKO Abiola in the controversial June 12, 1993 presidential election which was annulled by the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida.
