Archbishop God-Dowell Avwomakpa, Chairman of  CAN, South South zone who recently faulted President Buhari’s decision for Nigeria to join Coalition of Arabic nations  against terrorism stated while  speaking with journalists  that some Islamic elements were already in Nigeria with the aim of perfecting plan to lslamise Nigeria, the largest nation on earth with black people. It would be recalled that President Buhari had stated while speaking with Saudi Arabia king, Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz during a trip to Saudi-Arabia that Nigeria was not a member of the group only for the newspapers to now report weeks later that Nigeria has join the coalition.

The Archbishop who says clerics have been praying for Nigeria to remain as one united nation noted that if Nigeria goes ahead to join the coalition, most innocent Nigerians who travel abroad especially to Arab countries will be targets of terrorists. Besides the CAN chairman said any plan to make Nigeria a Sharia state  or carry out Islamic agenda will be resisted by Christians.

While calling on President Buhari to look at how to bring about the desired change in Nigeria,  he equally called on the National Assembly not to allow any state government to entrench Sharia law in Nigeria, noting that the Nigeria’s’ constitution recognises  the country as a secular state. The implication of a secular state as enshrined in the Nigeria constitution according to Archbishop Avwomakpa is that the Nigeria people are free to practice any religion as well as guaranteed freedom of worship and freedom of movement. Furthermore, the CAN chairman for South South zone called on Christian Clerics  to pray for  peace, unity and progress of Nigeria

According to the South South Chairman of CAN, the priority of the President Buhari’s administration should be how to strengthen democracy and address the nation’s security challenges, create employment for the nation’s teeming youths as well as create an enabling environment for investors to come and invest in Nigeria. Avwomakpa equally called on the National Assembly to live up to the expectations of the Nigeria citizens while urging Christians to pray fervently.
