Barrister Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, the popular Lagos-based civil rights attorney and human rights activist was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives recently for obtaining money under false pretence by knowingly dealing in renting out a forfeited asset without due authorization.
Insiders at EFCC disclosed that he allegedly conspired with some other persons to lease a property situated at House 105 NICON Town Estate, Lekki Lagos, to one Shelf Drilling Nigeria Limited at the sum of N61,631,944.65. The said money was credited to his Zenith Bank’s account, from where he disbursed the funds to others.
Sources disclosed to us that the lawyer will soon be charged to court.
