The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso has denied reports claiming that he threatened to leave the party.

The clarification was made by the Kwankwasiyya Movement through its spokesman, Habibu Mohammed, who described the reports as false and misleading.

According to Mohammed, Kwankwaso never threatened to dump the NDC, stressing that neither the former Kano governor nor the Kwankwasiyya Movement has any grievances with the party.

The denial followed reports suggesting that the Kwankwasiyya Movement would pull out of the NDC if some of its loyalists, who were earlier nominated for positions, were replaced.

The speculation arose after several candidates reportedly submitted by the group were substituted, with claims that the move violated an earlier power-sharing agreement.

However, Mohammed dismissed the allegations, insisting that party stakeholders had agreed on a consensus arrangement where necessary and submitted the final list of candidates without any internal crisis or disagreement.
