Pandemonium broke out last week in Abeokuta when news filtered into town that 33-year old Oluwatosin Otaiku, a graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) committed suicide when his long time girlfriend, Oluwatoyin Olaogun decided to end their relationship abruptly.

An incident which not only jolted those close to the love birds is still a mystery to a lot of people who could not know why a promising young man should take his own life over a broken relationship.

An investigation into the matter by Wale Adewunmi, our Ogun Correspondent has revealed that the deceased who made attempt on his life when he drank kerosene when another lady jilted him few years ago was still an applicant managing a business center owned by Oluwatoyin’s father. Also, the late lover boy who hailed from Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State was living in an apartment being paid for by the lady who seems to be his sole provider.

According to an eye witness account, the duo were invited by a neighbour in order to settle the rift privately in a shop at Safari junction, Onikolobo but unknown to the peace-maker and the lady, the deceased came to the venue with a knife hidden in his pocket.

The lady was said to have insisted in ending the relationship, the deceased who we learnt could not take it any longer brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed himself on the chest several times and the lady ran out, calling for help.

The incident which has been confirmed by the police is being investigated and it has continued to generate controversies.
