Rivers State former governor, Celestine Omehia is in hot soup.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has derecognised him as former governor of the state and has asked him to refund N696.5m entitlements and pensions and other sums he collected so far within 7 days.

Besides, his portrait has been removed from the Government House, Port-Harcourt.

For those who don’t know, on 25 October, 2007, the Supreme Court sacked Sir Celestine Omehia. The Court ruled that Constitutionally he was never a governor and should not enjoy anything in form of benefits and entitlements as a former governor.

Then Governor Rotimi Ameachi ordered the removal of Omehia’s Portrait from the Government House.

However, Wike restored Omehia’s Portrait back to the government house two years after he was sworn in as governor of Rivers State on May 29, 2015.

Thereafter, Wike paid all entitlements to Omehia. He bought him a car and built him a house.

In the fallout of the PDP Presidential Primaries which Atiku won, Omehia took sides with Atiku against Wike.
