General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), former military president of Nigeria is seriously down. Insiders squealed to us that the man most Nigerians call ‘Maradona’ has been hit by a strange illness and it has affected him badly that he can no longer walk without assistance. The insiders added that this explained why he seldom attends public functions these days.

Those close to him disclosed to us that he may still be suffering from radiculopathy disease which he has been nursing since his days in power. Family members revealed to us that he has been battling a bullet wound injury he sustained during the Nigerian civil war for years now. Though, the former president has been trying to conceal his serious health condition from the public but it became obvious recently when he attended the valedictory dinner for the former Niger State Chief Judge, Justice Fati Lami Abubakar and he was practically aided to walk into and out of the event.

During the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari last year in Abuja, he managed to stand up with the support of a walking stick, when Former Head of State of Nigeria, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd) saw him, he had to go and greet him because Gen. Babangida could not walk up to him.

Family members squealed to us that ever since the former president lost his wife and mother of his four children, Maryam to the cold hands of death through cancer on 28th December, 2009 his life has never been the same again.
