Why Ex-Governor Egwu, Gov. Elechi Are At War

Sam EgwuFormer governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Sam Egwu and his successor, Gov. Martin Elechi have fallen apart and the duo are now at war. Those in the know about the bitter political war between them said after Dr. Egwu ruled the state for eight years, he installed Gov. Elechi and felt the new governor would protect his political interest and structures.

But to his greatest shock, the governor launched a political war against his former boss immediately he was sworn in and proceeded to dismantle all the ex-governor’s political structures. They added that he also marginalized all loyalists of his predecessor.

The insiders said that things got so bad between them so much that the ex-governor had to lead a powerful delegation of PDP topshots in the state to Abuja recently to report the governor to the national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu. Ex-Gov. Sam Egwu accompanied by Ebonyi State deputy governor, Chairman of the state PDP, Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Senator Igwe Paulinus Nwagwu told the PDP national chairman that Gov. Elechi has been suppressing PDP aspirants in the state and some of them are threatening to leave the party and seek greener pastures in other parties. He appealed to the chairman to do something fast before the state is lost to another party in forthcoming elections.
