Egbe recalled that the late Military Governor was a dedicated, fine and gallant military officer who gave account of himself in the battlefield and in the office as a military administrator.

“As a military administrator, he laid the foundation for the development of the old Imo State by giving the state a world-class master plan,” Egbe said.

According to him, Admiral Kanu was also a one-time military Governor of Lagos State. He was a man of the people who maintained an open-door policy and never discriminated against anyone.

“The Admiral’s residences in Calabar, Lagos and Ovim were always open to all. One could always tell when Admiral was home and when he had left by his open gate.”

“He calmly listened to all who came to see him. To him, nobody was too small or young to grant audience”, Egbe said.

He prayed God to grant the departed military officer eternal rest.
