Popular comedian, Okey Bakassi, has debunked rumours circulating on social media that his marriage to his wife, Zizi, has crashed.

The rumours also alleged that Zizi had filed for divorce, 15 years after the comedian reportedly relocated her and their children to the United States to pursue her nursing studies, while he remained in Nigeria to work and provide financial support for the family.

Reacting to the claims in a video shared on his Instagram page, Bakassi said:

“Please, my wife and I are still together, God forbid anything will ever happen to us.”

“Someone was busy on social media trying to disrespect me and my family. One idiot, one charlatan went on social media and created an article with my name, my picture with that of my wife on it. Alleging that we have gone our separate ways.”

“Since then, friends, family and fans have been calling me and my wife from all over the world with this troubling news. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Canada.”

“Those of you who are close to me know that my wife does not live in the US and she’s not a nurse as reported by the author of that article.”
