Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has lambasted the Ohanaeze Ndigbo for disrespecting the former President of Nigeria, late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Speaking through his Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, he said;

“Ohanaeze is predominantly funded by state governments. We are going to stop it from endorsing candidates. Ohanaeze should remain apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo and not a partisan political mouthpiece for endorsing candidates. Igbo people belong to different political parties; we can’t shut doors against ourselves. We won’t allow that.”

“We’ve no issue with Peter Obi or Atiku or their endorsement. We are being misrepresented in the media since this issue began. We’ve not in any press statement mentioned Atiku or Obi’s name.”

“Our grouse was how the Ohanaeze and Nnia Nwodo disrespected Zik, the day the whole nation was honouring him.”
