NASFAT Revisits IDP Camp, Donates Food Items

It will be recalled that sometimes last year, the  Nasrul-Lahi Fatih Society of Nigeria, (NASFAT) Kaduna branch in the spirit of Ramadan visited the Internally Displaced Persons at Danhoro Community in Chukun Local Government Area of Kaduna State and donated food items/clothing worth over half a million naira. Zainab Tanimu, our Kaduna Correspondent was there.

This same faith based organization committed to spiritually and humanly touching on the lives of the needy has revisited the IDP Camp to not only donate food items but render medical services to the people and those living within the community. The Branch Chairman, Engr. Muhyideen Yusuf while addressing pressmen present said the gesture was part of their Da’wah programme meant to put smiles on the faces of the internally displaced persons as well as give them the hope that all is not lost.

“This is part of our social religious responsibility to always ensure the tenet of Islam as enjoined in the Holy Quran. Islam as a religion recognizes humanity and therefore it is our responsibility to do what is needed according to the Islamic teachings”.

As to what inform their second visit, he has this to say… “NASFAT teams were actually here last year during the Ramadan fast. We donated food items and some clothing. The pathetic situation we met them, living in abject poverty and poor health condition informed our decision to come back here to extend our hands of fellowship by addressing the issue in our own little way. That is exactly what is happening today”

He commended the efforts of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA for their input towards the success of the exercise.

Engr. Yusuf charged people in the community to live in peace and harmony irrespective of their ethnic or religious divide stressing the fact that nothing good comes out of violence.  Islam, he emphasized preaches peace, unity among diverse groups.

Lending his voice, the Zonal and Chief Missioner Kaduna NASFAT, Imam Marooph Muhammad Raji who was part of last year’s team expressed concern over their pathetic situation which he said should give every human being a food for taught.

“They are not in this condition out of their own wish. We should feel for them by way of extending our assistance and love. We eat in our various houses while our fellow human beings are suffering. Allah loves he who helps his fellow human being. Let’s give the little we can. And to the well-to –do Nigerians we are calling that you use part of your God given wealth to touch on the lives of the needy out there”.

The Northwest Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Musa Ilallah through his representative Kaseem Jere had commended the efforts of NASFAT in extending their  hand of fellowship to the internally displaced persons. Kaseem explained that due to the  gradual return of peace in the Northeast, many IDPs from the camp had returned to their various homes.

Earlier, answering questions from newsmen, the  Head of Medical Team of NASFAT, Dr. Musa Danjuma said he could not at that particular time ascertain the exact figure of people that had been tested and administered drugs but authoritatively informed that the common illness diagnosed among the internally displaced persons and the residents of the community were: Malaria, Typhoid and Hypertension. To maintain a healthy life, Dr. Danjuma advised the residents to imbibe the culture of proper hygiene. The proper cleaning up of their environments and maintenance of personal hygiene would go a long way to improving their health status. He emphasized.

Labara Gideon, a displaced person from Chibok community expressed appreciation to NASFAT and prayed that God Almighty continues to strengthen the association.

The Sarki Fada Danhono Shehu Musa, who received the NASFAT team on behalf of the Sarki/Dakacin Danhono 1, Danladi Sarki expressed their appreciation to NASFAT. Their gesture he said would continue to linger in their minds.
