Mr Joachim Iroko who was arrested by the police in Ogun state for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’ has been set free by a Magistrate Court sitting in Otta, Ogun State today Tuesday 25th July, 2017. The Magistrate struck out the case because those that arraigned him refused to show up to defend the case and the Magistrate O. O Adebo had no choice than to strike out the case and set the young man free.
Mr Joachim Iroko was defended by Human Right lawyers; Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa and Inibehe Effiong.
For those who don’t know, the trader Mr Joachim Iroko of No 10, Omikunle Street, Sango-Ota, Ogun State was arrested after one of his neighbours of Northern extraction complained bitterly that he named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari. We learned that the complainant reported the case at Sango Police Station after which the trader was arrested and detained.
