I’m In Music For Good – Jennifer Eliogu

jennifer-elioguJust as the news of her announcement as the headline performer at the forthcoming African Women in Leadership Organisation Conference holding in Atlanta, Georgia USA swirled around, Nollywood leading actress cum singer, Jennifer Eliogu, has said that she is in the music business for real and not because other people are going into music.

“Music is something that has always been a part of me. I am not in it because other people are going into music but because I have the passion for it and I have always wanted to make good music,” she said on her foray into music.

Jennifer, who has been in the movie industry for about 17 years, said she has come into the music industry to stay and in it for good.

“I am not in competition with anybody, it is just another way of making use of the talents that I have. Music is a serious business, and I am in for the long run. I have a band called Silk Band and we just want to make people feel good through music,” she added.

Her 10-man band, Silk, has performed at various events for individuals and corporate bodies, awards ceremonies, conferences and end-of-year parties.

She currently has three singles to her name. The singles which are fusion of different genres of music, namely: You and I, Ifunanya and Fantasy. ‘Ifunanya’ was nominated as the Best R‘n’B song at the Nigerian Music Video awards 2013, while ‘You and I’ is the coverage of the late legend, Celestine Ukwu’s song.  ‘Fantasy’ is a lover’s rock reggae song.

Known for her versatility and ability to interpret different characters perfectly as an actress, Jennifer took many by surprise when she veered into music. She has through her acting and Non-Governmental Organization, Initiative for Development, Empowerment and Absolute Stability (IDEAS) been able to impact people’s lives positively.

She is also a producer, compere and motivational speaker and has featured in over 50 Nollywood movies before her foray into music.
