Delectable actress, Ebube Nwagbo, has made the headlines for a while on account of her alleged romance with singer, KCee. Beyond the scandals, the pretty actress and businesswoman is a joy to be on a good day. In this interview with ORUKPE NELSON she speak on life, acting and business.

What’s been happening to your acting career and business?

I have been extremely busy with work and business, it has been a very busy year, but that is not to say that I am complaining. I thank God for every bit of it shuttling within Lagos and Asaba where most of the movies are shot is not easy aside the international trips I embark on based on my hair and accessories business. It’s been a fruitful 2014 so far.

Your movie titled ‘Smile Again’ which was recently released showed your versatility, did you buy the script or is it based on a personal life experience?

The script idea came after a movie I saw even though it had nothing to do with the storyline. I wanted to relate the script with the happenings in our society and of course as a strong believer of love and God’s miraculous ways of doing things, I was convinced I can invest in it aside using it to pass a message to everyone. It’s a family story, a movie everybody can sit and watch.

It preaches God’s love for us and why we need to be hopeful regardless of our present situation. It’s been released into the market already and still doing well.

How have you been able to sustain your Posh Hair brand which has successfully flooded the main stores of Trade Fair, Lagos Island, big saloons and more within such a short time of entry?

It has been God and hard work. I believe the brand became a household name in the market because I also ensure I give our customers worth of their money without having them to break a bank. There are loads of hair brands out there in the market but Posh Hair cuts across for every class of person. I think that’s one of my trade secrets, there is always something for everyone, and it makes you stand above the crowd in style.

What about your new brand of hair (Posh Divo) which we learnt is set to hit the market in a couple of days, what differentiates it from your Posh Panash, Posh Brazilian, Peruvian, virgin and the rest?

Posh Divo is the latest addition to my Posh Empire as I love to call it. It is 100 per cent Brazilian Virgin Hair and comes in different short lengths in a pack. It is different varieties all packed in one pack for the value of one. That is it is different from other Posh products.

You recently won a fashion & style award beating some of your colleagues to it, what inspires your dress sense and what are the three most important items you can’t do without?

I love to put on whatever suits me and I advise everyone to please do the same. I know and understand my body type and structure and as such ensure that I dress according to them. I can never be caught in an outfit am not comfortable in. The first rule in fashion is making sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing.

You should wear the outfit and not the other way round like most ladies. I am not particular about following trends or big names, as long as what am wearing suits me and my hour glass figure is not disfigured, I’m good to go. And my most three inseparable items, I can’t do without my lip gloss, Sunglasses and of course my smile!

Won’t it be safe to say you are on relationship break as you’ve refused to be linked to anyone since the last public affair you had involving your ex, KCee?

Well, I wouldn’t call it a break candidly; let’s just say I have decided to channel my time and energy into becoming a better person aside expanding my business and career.

There’s been couple of wedding ceremonies and unfortunately breakups in the entertainment industry, what’s your take on marriage and how soon do you intend to toe that part?

Marriage is sacred. And nobody goes into it with the intention of it breaking down the next minute. Everybody wants the ‘happily ever after’ kind of romance including me. So, it has to be done rightly and at the right time with the right person. I realize why most marriages fail is because of societal pressures. People have age tag for we women especially expecting us to automatically become ‘Mrs. Somebody’ even if it entails suffering and pains. Life has advanced beyond that, for me the main thing is to be happy and proud with our decisions in life because the people who mislead you will be the first to laugh at you when the chips are down.

There was this rumour sometime ago, you went to church to pray for a man, can you clear the air?

What happened at that time was that I went to church and the pastor said if you want to do something for God, you come out and make a pledge with any amount. It was running into hundreds of thousands of naira. He said we could come out and do it for God, any amount that came to mind. I was one of those people that wanted to do it because I felt I was led to do it. That was it and they assumed that for me to do it I was looking for a man. The next thing I saw in the paper the next week was that I went to church to pray for a man. I really did not find that funny at all. I was not the only one that came out that day to do something for God but because it is Ebube, they assumed things.

Can you tell us about the Ebube on set and Ebube off set

A lot of people tend to attach me to what they see on set. When I started out, it was with the roles that endear people to me, so everybody thought I am that accommodating and nice, I am not saying I am not nice. I am nice, but I am not that naïve girl everybody thinks I am because most people tend to take advantage of it, thinking what they see on screen is the way I am. I still have some sides to me; I am not that perfect person they think I am. I am not that person everybody takes advantage of. It is totally different for me. I am not that loud but I could be when I want to.

What would you ascribe you success in Nollywood to after a decade?

I started acting when I was very young, I grew up in Nollywood. It was in 2003, I was about 20 years old then. I was still in school, so it was shuffling school and work. I learnt the good and bad things here. It has been a journey for me. It is like growing. I started fending for myself and my family at that age. I grew up like that and Nollywood kind of moulded me into what I am today based on where I am coming from as a person. It became the family I know because those early years I was always on set. All I knew at that time was making movies. The journey so far has been smooth, it has been rough, it has been sweet, it has been bitter, but so far, I am thankful to God for where I am today. At least, I am alive, I still have people out there that still love me. In as much as I do not expect everybody to love me, I can still boast of a lot of people that admire me for what I have become today. It has been a smooth and rough journey so far.

What was you parents’ reaction when I got into acting

Actually, when I got into acting, I did not tell my parents because I knew that there was no way they were going to support me. I really needed to do something at that time for myself and family and I did not know the next thing to do. The opportunity came my way and I grabbed it. I was on my IT and I wanted to do something and I did not want to work in the office. I thought about what I could do to get me fast money without having to work in an office. I called a friend who is in the industry, I told him I would love to try out acting just for the fun of it and see if I could get money. He always spoke about Nollywood and he told me there was an audition coming up and I should come and try it out. That was the first and last audition I ever went into.
