The Vanguard Newspaper selected you amongst the 36 governors as the Personality of the Year 2013. What  lesson can you draw from it?

As you can see, my wife and I are full of joy in the sense that we are being recognized not only in Delta State but outside the state. Our achievements have touched all other parts of Nigeria, what the Vanguard Newspaper under the able leadership of Chief Sam Amuka has done is overwhelming. I appreciate this singular honour, there are lots of lessons to draw from event like this. For a single man to be pulled out among many others means that person must be unique and an asset to the entire populace. Also, it is always good to be good because one day, whatever you sow, you shall definitely reap. This is the reason I am being honoured today. Furthermore, whatever you are doing, you must do it diligently so that it can be used as a reference point for others to follow. What is important is that we must also learn to keep our promise. When we were elected for the first tenure, we made promises and all those promises have been fulfilled, this and many more are part of the reasons why Delta State got this award.

Do you have any successor plan?

Well, the issue of successor should not be the main topic now. Those who would make the choice should be very careful because Delta State needs a candidate that would surpass Gov. Uduaghan’s records.

Some people believe that your speaker who resigned has gubernatorial ambition, any comment?

Cuts in: We are here to receive the Vanguard Award and I believe this question should not be for me, you can always ask him why he resigned.

You have received a couple of awards just this year, is this part of your strategies to get support for your senatorial ambition?

If you are doing well, everybody will like to identify with you. So, we are doing well and that is why they are recognizing us. As for the senatorial ambition, God has decided on that and no one can go against it.
