How Emir Sulu Gambari Reconciled Bukola and Gbemi Saraki

The two popular children of the late Olusola Saraki who have been loggerhead for years, we were informed have been reconciled by the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in a closed-door meeting at his Ilorin palace days back.

We also learnt, they both walked out and rode in the same vehicle to their father’s house at Ilofa in Ilorin Kwara state capital.

If you recall, the disagreement between the siblings began in 2006 when Bukola, who was on the verge of completing his eight-year tenure as Kwara governor, declined to support their father’s proposal to get Gbemi to succeed him. Instead, the former governor backed incumbent Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed as his successor.

In anger Gbemi and their late father left the PDP to form a new party, Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, on which platform she ran for governor, but was defeated by Ahmed.

It became a subject of discourse as even at the point of death, the elder Saraki was not able to reconcile his warring children.
