How Amosun Won Ogun Guber Primaries

Ibikunle-Amosun-Governor-Ogun-State3,861 delegates of the Ogun state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) recently voted to elect Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the governorship election of the party which was held on the 4th of December in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The governorship congress, held under heavy security presence was also duly supervised by state and national representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headed by Kehinde Mustapha.

Voting commenced at exactly 1:00pm after the congress Electoral committee headed by Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye had finished delegates accreditation.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote, Governor Amosun, who described the exercise as a peaceful one however, said it was a call on him to do more “for the people of the state”.

Reacting to the news of his deputy, Segun Adesegun who also declared his intention to contest the governorship seat of the state under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Amosun said it is one of the beauties of democracy which should be encouraged.

Amosun, who expressed appreciation to INEC’s representatives, the congress electoral committee as well as other members of the party, also said he wished his deputy well in his desire to contest against him in the forthcoming governorship election in Ogun.
