It was a moment of celebration at Oruk Anam Political Ward one as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Matters, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, treated the Ward members to an end of year get together showering them with gift items comprising bags of rice, wrapper materials, a live cow and cash.
Speaking at the event which took place at Ward one Centre Ikot Ekpuk, the Governor ‘s Aide Idongesit Etiebet, informed the people that the gesture is geared towards fostering love, peace and unity among the Ward members.
She conveyed warmth greetings from her husband, Engr. Iboro Etiebiet, who is a Card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an ardent supporter of the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
She particularly thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing her as an Aide on Education Matters stating that the divine mandate has in stock developmental programmes which Oruk Anam people are beneficiaries.
Mrs. Etiebet described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a gift to Akwa Ibom people and said that the Governor is professionally equipped to take the State to the next level the prevailing economic recession notwithstanding.
While describing education as the catalyst for industrialisation, the Governor’s Aide emphasised the continuation of free and compulsory education programme in the state pointing out that rehabilitation of School infrastructure would receive priority attention and that teachers would henceforth concentrate on their subject areas for quality Service delivery. She urged parents to ensure that their wards benefit from the lofty programmes of the administration.
The Governor’s Aide therefore called on the people to support Governor Udom Emmanuel to continue in the developmental programmes he has initiated and said of the Governor as a man of integrity, an investment expert with a Midas touch for industrialisation explaining that Eket Senatorial District is to produce the Governor after Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Districts have had their turns.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, His Highness Eno Obosi, commended the Governor’s Aide for identifying with her Constituency barely few months of her appointment and expressed appreciation to the Governor for embarking on roads rehabilitation in the area.
He assured the Governor of the support of Oruk Anam people to enable him complete his eight years tenure as Governor of the State just as it was done in the era of Governors from other Senatorial Districts.
In their solidarity speeches, the Ward Chairman, Mr Israel Evans, Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Mr Nnamso Idiong, Mrs Juliana Ekuriku and the Ward’s Youth Leader, Mr Uffot Johnson, said Mrs Etiebiet ‘s gesture has re-consolidated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area and that opposition party cannot penetrate the area as Oruk Anam is Peoples Democratic Party stronghold.
At the event, the Governor’s Aide took time out to dance with the Ward members and personally presented gift items to the Party Elders, Supporters, Youths, Men and Women of the area.
