Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State political war with his godfather, Senator Godswill Akpabio has claimed its first casualty. The governor has sacked the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Etekamba Umoren who was nominated into his government by Senator Akpabio.

Besides, the governor equally fired the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Udo Ekpenyong recently. The sacked officials, Mr. Ekpenyong and Mr. Umoren, are from the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District where Mr. Akpabio comes from.

Meanwhile, the governor has personally warned that he was going to deal decisively with any politician who instigates trouble in the state, irrespective of his status.

Insiders squealed to us that the governor is going to sack more Senator Akpabio’s loyalists from his government. The governor and the senator’s bitter political war became public knowledge recently when the senator said in a public gathering that the governor has neglected Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
