Glo Campus Storm Excites UNIBEN Students

The students and other members of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) community will not forget Thursday, 8 December, 2016 in a hurry. That was the day the popular youth-focused music concert organised by Globacom, Campus Storm, unleashed unforgettable fun on the university community.

For several hours, the show turned the In-door Sports Hall of the university to a beehive of high quality music entertainment, featuring two of the iconic Nigerian music stars: the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya and the Nabania exponent, Flavour. The concert also featured fast rising star, Asterix and other local flavours from the university.

The show anchor was the witty standup comic, Bovi, who enlivened the atmosphere with rib-cracking jokes, while DJ Neptune filled the hall with different genres of music played from his console.

Following the usual tradition since the commencement of the current season of Glo Campus Storm, the show incorporated other interesting activities including dancing and singing competitions as well as a beauty pageant.

Immediately after the dancing competition, Asterix, climbed the stage and unleashed a series of his popular songs, including ‘Yapa’ and ‘Okpeke’ on the appreciative audience.

Before the excitement subsided, Timaya took over, singing his all-time hits, such as ‘Babalawo Power’, ‘Ogologoma’, ‘Bum bum’, ending with ‘Malo Nogede’.

Highlife maestro, Flavour raised the bar with his scintillating performance. He opened with his popular collaborative effort with Sarkodie, ‘Finally’, and followed in quick succession with ‘Adanma’, “Baby You Too Fine’, ‘Sexy Rosie’, ‘ Osondu Owendu’ and closed the show with one of the songs that shot him into limelight, ‘Waka Waka’.

His performance was followed by the beauty pageant to select the “Glo Campus Data Diva” and the “Glo Campus Data Dude”.  At the end of the contest, Okonkwo Chidima won the crown as UNIBEN “Glo Campus Data Diva” with a prize of N100,000 just as Nwabuaku-Olu Lucy, Nkemditim Michael, Ifijen Emmanuella and Nwana Chidima Maryclare won N50,000 each.

The male category was won by Christopher Akin who effortlessly emerged the UNIBEN “Glo Campus Data Dude”, going home with the star prize of N100,000. The other four winners in the category included Arabamhen Precious, Amadasun Wisdom, Uzooko Elochukwu and Akpejiori Austin won N50, 000 each.
