These are not the best of times for former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. The President Buhari’s ministerial nominee seems to be in hot soup as senators from his home state are shouting blue murder that he must clear himself of the N70billion fraud allegation that is contained in a petition before the senate.

Senator George Sekibo has been telling his colleagues that the former governor allegedly transferred over N70billion from hard currency account of Rivers State Government to places outside Nigeria. He added that a petition on the matter has equally been sent to President Buhari and the ex-governor must face the music before thinking of becoming a minister.

That’s not all, the Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry’s report indicted the former governor of allegedly embezzling the sum of N53billion taken from the state reserve fund.

The commission chairman, Justice George Omereji revealed that they could not find any project the money was spent on.
