CBN Governor, Emefiele Weeps

Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is in pains. He lamented while answering questions from members of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial institutions during his screening in Abuja on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019.

The governor said that; “At the age of 57, I have seen steady developments of the country in the past, but the trajectory stopped abruptly as a result of non-compliance to government’s policies.”

“No country grows if its citizens don’t obey policies. Nigerians abhor disobedience to policies made by government. Distinguished Chairman of the Committee and members, I must tell you that each time I travel abroad and see developments there and remember my own country, I weep.”

“Some of the Asian tigers that we started together have developed past Nigeria.”

“I will implement the CBN policies to the later in my second tenure. The authority will sanction those who breach the laws irrespective of their status in the society.”
