Why Amaechi, Abe Are Fighting

Ex-Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has declared war on Senator Magnus Abe. However, millions of Nigerians are now wondering why the two All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains and bosom friends are now at war.

Be that as it may, we can tell you for free why they are fighting. Insiders told us that Rotimi is very bitter with Abe over his governorship ambition come 2019 as he sees his ambition as an affront against his authority to install another candidate of his choice as governor of Rivers State in 2019.

We gathered that Rotimi accused Senator Abe of treachery and disloyalty at a meeting he held with APC leaders from the four local government areas in Ikwerre area of the state recently. We were told that the APC stakeholders’ meeting took place at the Port Harcourt GRA home of Chief Andrew Uchendu, where party leaders from Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt City, Emohua and Ikwerre Local Government areas attended. Amaechi was said to have boasted at the meeting that he would not support Senator Magnus Abe to contest for the governorship election in 2019.

Those at the meeting told us that Amaechi lamented that the Executive Director of Finance/Admin at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mene Derek, who he nominated on recommendation from Abe is now supporting his quest to be governor against his wish. Our sources added that Amaechi accused former Attorney General of Rivers State during his administration, Chief Worgu Boms, of supporting Abe’s 2019 governorship ambition against his own candidate.
