Former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal, Alex Badeh (retd.) seems to be jumping from fry pan to fire. The man who has been cooling his heels inside EFCC cell for about a week now should be explaining to the agency how about N4.4 billion NIMASA paid to the Nigerian Airforce for aerial surveillance ended up in the private accounts of some Nigeria Airforce officers’ wives.
Insiders at the EFCC revealed that about N4.4 billion of the NIMASA money has been traced to the private accounts owned by their wives. The insiders added these officers’ wives set up small oil companies under the guise of supplying aviation fuel to Airforce planes and huge amounts of money was paid into their accounts and no aviation fuel was supplied.
We were told that Air Cadre S.A Yushau, former Director, Finance and Accounting of Nigeria Airforce has equally been arrested by the EFCC over the shady deal.
It is interesting to know that the retired Chief of Defence Staff came on Channels Television and said that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration did not give the Army enough money to buy arms to fight Boko Haram.
