AIESEC Nigeria Holds Annual Management Lecture

…set to launch a new book

Alumni of the International Association of Students in Economics and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC) in Nigeria have concluded plans to hold the 30th edition of the Dr. Michael Omolayole Management Lecture themed “Social Entrepreneurship as a Tool for National Economic Development” to be hosted by Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA).

It will hold at NECA House, Central Business District, Alausa Ikeja on September 25th at 2pm.

According to organizers of the lecture, the guest speaker will be the Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Seni Adetu while Mr. Larry Ettah, current President of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association as well as the Managing Director of UACN, will chair the event.

As part of the programme of the day is the book presentation which comprises of a selection of past lectures from the Omolayole management lectures series over 30years. The lectures have covered diverse topics since 1985 delivered by notable speakers such as Chief (Dr.) Ernest Shonekan who delivered the first paper in the series; “Industrialisation and Economic Recovery”; Chief Olusegun Osunkeye, OFR OON, the 1989 Guest Speaker with the topic “The Effect of Current National Financial Policies on the Manufacturing Sector” to the more recent 28th and 29th  lectures by Mrs Sola David-Borha -“Financing Infrastructural Development in Nigeria: The Power Sector”; and Mr. Gbenga Oyebode, MFR -“Agricultural Innovation & Contemporary Investment Opportunities.

A statement from the organizers also stated that the pre-lecture interactive session segment of the lecture which is now in its second year, will commence by 10am. It allows participants drawn from budding entrepreneurs, and students in tertiary & secondary institutions to meet and glean relevant information from a diverse group of experts connected with the theme of each edition of the lecture. This year’s session will feature panelists who are themselves social entrepreneurs or represent venture capitalists that support these entrepreneurs. The session will also feature the finals of a social impact ideas competition run for students of tertiary institutions.

Other key partners of the Omolayole Management Lecture are The Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM).

The main lecture will have in attendance guests from diverse sectors of the economy including CEO’s of multinationals, top management executives of organisations that support entrepreneurship, related government agencies and financial institutions.
