ADWEF, ICOH Offer Free Dental Care to Widows In Plateau State

ADWEF Dental CareThe Advocacy for Widows Empowerment Foundation (ADWEF) in partnership with Intercountry Centre for Oral Health for Africa (ICOH) recently offered free dental care for over hundred widows in Kuru, Kuru Local Government Council of Plateau State.

During the programme, Intercountry Centre for Oral Health for Africa (ICOH) regional Director, Mr Emmanuel Otoh engaged the widows in a health talk focusing on personal hygiene for the care of their teeth to avoid toothache and mouth odour.

The widows were thereafter orally examined, in which those that needed to have their tooth extracted were given referrals to come to ICOH for treatment, toothpaste (Sensodyne) was shared to all widows present. The district head of Kuru, Da Patrick Mandung was also examined and treated after the team were done with the widows.

This visit left the widows elated and satisfied with the Health outreach event, as over 165 widows were present.

According to Doris E. Garuba ADWEF zonal coordinator in Jos “ it is our goal to reach more widows in all the Local Government Areas of Plateau State by partnering with other health related organizations to help alleviate the various health challenges that affect widows that lack access to affordable healthcare.”
