The war between gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has taken a new twist as the popular musician has sued Ajimobi’s government for its plan to demolish his Music House and radio station, Fresh Fm at Lagos-Ibadan by-pass, Challenge, Ibadan.
The gospel artiste sued the government at a State High Court in Ibadan, seeking an order restraining the government from demolishing his property, pending the determination of the suit.
In an ex parte motion, Ayefele’s lawyer, Olayinka Bolanle said due process was followed in the construction of the structure. “Approvals were obtained from the state’s relevant departments and agencies.”
Justice Iyabo Yerima in her judgment ordered Ayefele to ensure service of the court process on the Oyo State Government. She held that there were “serious issues to be determined” in the suit filed.
She adjourned the matter till August 20 for hearing of the ex parte motion.
Be that as it may, the musician’s fans and sympathizers as well as Fresh FM fans on Thursday, August 16, 2018 gathered in mass at the radio station to protest the demolition plan by the Oyo State Government. The protesters were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions, such as; “Obey rule of law”; “Fresh FM must stand.”
