Why Fayose Is Fighting Commissioner

FayoseGov. Ayodele Peter Fayose of Ekiti State is locked in a bitter war with his confidant and Commissioner for Works, Mr. Kayode Oso who dumped the government recently. We were told that the commissioner has been having a running battle with the governor for about a year now. Our sources disclosed that the governor and the commissioner first fell apart over the issue of the contractor handling the flyover bridges in the state. We gathered that the governor wanted the contractor to also be the consultant to the project and the commissioner objected to it.

Besides, Mr. Kayode Oso was not in support of the Ekiti Airport project which the governor wasted N250 million for clearing of the site. That is not all, the commissioner equally refused to carry out the governor’s instruction to lambast the DSS for inviting some Ekiti State Government officials. The final straw that broke the camel’s back was when the commissioner left his job, travelled out of the country and refused to come back.

Those in the know told us that common friends of the governor and the commissioner tried their best to broker peace between them but the commissioner refused to come back to his job. In order to save his face, the governor was said to have instructed the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Modupe Alade to announce that the commissioner has resigned on health grounds.

For those who don’t know, the governor and the commissioner have come a long way together. He was the Chief of Staff to the governor in his first time as governor and later became his Commissioner for Works before he was impeached in a controversial circumstances during ex-President Obasanjo’s administration.
