Bet millions of Nigerians do not know that Mr. Stephen Olabisi Onasanya, Managing Director of First Bank Plc. became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 22. He actually started his banking career at Wema Bank as a senior accountant in 1985.

That is not all, the top banker per excellence attended St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School in Mushin and Eko Boys High School, Mushin, Lagos. Thereafter, he proceeded to Lagos State College of Science and Technology. Besides, he is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. Also, he is a member of Nigeria Institute of Taxation.

For those who don’t know the banking icon was the MD/CEO of First Pension Custodian in 2005. He came to First Bank Nigeria Plc. in 1994 and became the MD/CEO of the biggest and the most successful bank in Nigeria, First Bank Nigeria Plc. in 2009. The Ijebu born topflight banker is highly regarded in the banking industry as the architect of the new First Bank that is now appealing to both young and old customers.
