The Kaduna state newly sworn in PDP Chairman, Hassan Hyet speaking with our correspondent, Zainab Tanimu has affirmed the party’s stance in reclaiming Kaduna state come 2019 as the party is bouncing back to life again. This he said is evidence in the air of satisfaction that reigned during the just concluded election where delegates were democratically elected by the people themselves. Kaduna would be taken over in no distance time.

“We cannot say that this is something tangible APC has achieved based on their promises to Nigeria. From what happened in our just concluded election, you can see that PDP has hope. We are taking over in no distance time. Excerpts:

In the first place, why do you think PDP failed in Kaduna state?

That is history now. Some people felt aggrieved and left the party and some people had good reasons why they felt aggrieved but whatever their reasons are, they have now realized that they have contributed in destroying Nigeria because there is nothing APC is doing in building Nigeria.

How are you going about the idea of reconciliation, by so doing building the lost image of Party in the state?

What we are doing now is put our house in order. Reconciling issues by allowing people to express their opinions the way they feel. I want to assure you that there would be reconciliation in the party because we are operating an open door policy. People are given the opportunity to air their grievances and we are working towards bringing an end to all these. PDP has not had this kind of election before. Everyone knows that up to the ward level democracy reigned and everyone is satisfied. They are allowed to choose people of their choice. Nobody is imposed on them. So, with this kind of democracy where candidates are the choice of the people, the party would remain strong and wax stronger.

The issue of godfathers has posed some problems to the aspirations of many. With you on board now as the party chairman, how do you hope to handle this?

You see, people misunderstand what is meant by godfathers. Everybody has a father who gave birth to him and another father from outside can be a father that has nurtured you, who has helped you to achieve your ambition but in Nigeria, we look at godfather as someone who gives you directives. No! That is not it. Simply, what it means is that you have somebody that gives you advice based on his experiences. This to me is a good development for someone and one cannot do without having someone you use as reference point.

What do you foresee as your challenges?

We are dealing with human nature and once you bring changes, you expect some people to resist but we believe that as time goes on everybody would be involved.
