Campaign Funds: EFCC Detains Ize-Iyamu Again

imagesThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has again detained, Director-General of PDP presidential campaign in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in connection with the N700 million campaign funds he allegedly received from Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke.

‎Ize-Iyamu, a gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP in Edo State, who was recently quizzed by the EFCC for allegedly collecting 700 from the former minister of petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke was on Friday 20th May, detained by the EFCC at the commission Port-Harcourt office.

It will be recalled that Ize-Iyamu was arrested last week Tuesday by the EFCC where he confessed to have received 700m from Diezani during the 2015 general election and was granted an administrative bail.

Owning to the re-arrest of Ize-Iyamu, the PDP Edo gubernatorial aspirant was unable to attend his party, People’s Democratic Party’s convention, which took place yesterday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state. His supporters were seen anticipating for his arrival as most of them were not aware of his detention by the EFCC.

An EFCC source who pleaded anonymity revealed that an investigation on how the N700 million was disbursed is still ongoing and the outcome of the investigation will determine the commission’s next line of action on this case, the source said.
