Seriake Dickson Dumps PDP

Former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District has joined the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dickson made the announcement during a world press conference on Thursday at his residence in Abuja, where he lamented that the PDP, once dominant in Nigeria’s political landscape, had deteriorated significantly.

He said: “I am saddened by the declining state of the PDP. The party that once brought hope and excitement to my people has become gravely ill. The PDP is sick and presently in the ICU.”

He further alleged that some PDP governors were undermining the party’s strength by aligning with the All Progressives Congress, a development he said has deepened the party’s internal crisis and weakened its standing as a viable opposition platform.

However, the senator has been formally welcomed into the NDC by its leadership. During the event, he was presented with the party’s official flag and issued a membership card bearing the number “001,” symbolising his status as one of the pioneering members of the party.
