Sanwo-Olu In Dilemma

These are not the best of times for Lagos State governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as regards his cabinet.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) top-shot in the state squealed to us that the incoming governor will have a tough time as he will be working with those he has little or no control over.

Be that as it may, insiders told us that various interest groups in the party are now fighting to be part in the on-going compilation of names of cabinet members of the incoming administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The intense moves have led to internal bickering among some APC members who feel they have been sidelined in the scheme of things. The interest groups are: Mandate Group, led by the immediate past Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregebsola; Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi and the Justice Forum; Prince Rabiu Oluwa and the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organisation, BOSCO, led by Tayo Akande, and Cardinal James Odunbaku.

We gathered that Rauf Aregbesola is the one compiling the names of the cabinet members and the requirements to be on the appointment list, include: the person must be a party member with much contribution to the development of the party; if a professional or technocrat, must have at least Masters Degree, and worked in the corporate world for a number of years; and participated in the victory of Sanwo-Olu at the polls.

We were told that some chieftains and leaders of the party are not happy with the permutation that seems to favour a particular group with over 80 per cent loyalists on the list that is still being closely guarded. The Justice Forum, which silent on the appointment list is said to be working discreetly to have its way.
