It is as clear as light to anyone following the electoral process in Nigeria that Sammie Okposo is a staunch supporter of Goodluck Jonathan, the incumbent President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the presidential election slated for February 14 this year. But the gospel singer took his support to another level last week, precisely January 23, 2015.

He angrily took to Instagram to voice his anger over the alleged certificate forgery of APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari which has been a topical issue online in the last few days.

In the post, Sammie wrote: ‘Buhari or whoever forged that certificate needs to be flogged.’

Perhaps he did not anticipate the backlash the post would generate but fans soon started attacking him for what they consider a rather harsh post, leading him to deleting the post shortly after and apologising to Buhari in a series of tweets.

While writing: ‘I deeply apologise to GMB 4 saying he should be flogged he is old enough to be my father I shouldn’t have disrespected him, I’m sorry GMB,’ among others, the Glo ambassador pleaded for forgiveness.

The only problem is some fans are still mad at him despite apologising. Some of them have gone as far as describing his apology as rehearsed and unworthy, asking if he didn’t know Buhari was old enough to be his father all along.
