…What God Told Me About President Jonathan

The man that sees it all, the general overseer of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, (aka) Liberation City, Prophet Dr. Chris Okafor, has again declared a mind-blowing message to the country concerning the 2015 general election, particularly the presidential election. The oracle of God as he is fondly called said Dr Goodluck Jonathan would win but he would be the last PDP candidate to win election in Nigeria. After him, the APC might take over, he talked more on other national issues, his church and other prophecies for the year 2014. Read on…

Having spent 10 years in your ministry, how has it been?

We really thank God for His mercy and faithfulness. God has been helping us to succeed the mandate that has been given to us, we just give thanks to God. He is our refuge and strength, we are not there yet and our best is yet to come; so we give God all the glory.

You said your best is yet to come, some people will be surprised with that statement. You have a big congregation, and you were in more than 11 countries to preach the word, so what else do you want?

God gave us that mandate to bring one billion souls, though it’s not easy to reach one billion souls, the gospel must be preached to every creator. The end will come according to Mathew chapter 24 verse 14, the end is not coming right away, but the end will come because the coming of the Lord is somehow conditional and the gospel must be preached to every creator. The mandate God has given me is to reach one billion souls. If God gave you a mandate to reach one billion souls and you are only able to get 200 million souls, you keep on trying in order to reach your target, so our best is yet to come.

Out of the one billion souls you are mandated to win for Christ, how many have you recorded so far?

By the grace of God, we have reached a lot of people. Like last year, we had crusade across the country, in Enugu State we had over 20,000 people in attendance, in Ebonyi State the same thing happened. We had in Abuja, Warri and across the country such as Cameroun, South Africa and America. We had a lot of people who gave their lives to Christ. We have our own television, Liberation Television, this one reaches all African countries and about three or four countries in Europe. As I am talking to you right now, we are at the edge of entering another platform, that is called The Sky, this reaches every part of Europe and we are also talking with the Galaxy Television, Galaxy is another type of network, because the network we are now is called VSAT, so the one that covers the whole of Europe is called the SKY. The one that covers the whole of America and North America is called the GALAXY, currently we are talking to them, so we can reach the one billion souls and if possible go beyond the mandate.

Do you think that is realisable because one billion souls are enormous?

It is possible; now I am not in the church or a crusade ground, these television channels provide 24 hours service, and people are watching it, people have been delivered and healed through Liberation Television, barren women have conceived through Liberation TV, thousands and thousands have given their lives to Jesus through this TV. This is another arm of the ministry, millions of people are watching it at the same time; so we have actually gone far in that regard by God’s grace.

You look good despite your ever busy schedules every day?

It does not take anything to look good, it is only discipline, why I said that is that, there is this ideology which says cleanliness is second to Godliness. It has always been like this since my old school days, I was born without a silver spoon, I was born into a poor family, my father was a carpenter, and my mum a vegetable seller who were so poor that the poor said we were really poor. We lived in one room all together, we were about 11, or 12 of us living together. In those days; we washed over night; then in the morning you would wear the dress; they call it wash and wear, so to be clean is discipline. There are some people who have many clothes but still look dirty. I also discovered that the spirit of God is a spirit of excellence, He said where there is spirit of God, there is liberty. When we talk about liberty; it is not only when people are being free but liberty in the form of cleanliness. When you watch the church, we ensure that everything is being kept in order from the inside to outside, many of us put our homes in order so why can’t we put the house of God in order. It is the reflection of what God has put around me.

People have always wanted to ask you where you started your spiritual journey?

I am a normal Christian from a Christian home, I was born and brought up from a Christian background, but I encountered Jesus Christ at the age of eight. My parents are elders in the church, we are Anglicans, we are from a prayerful home, when my mum had my pregnancy; lots of prophets gave prophecy to my mum that she would give birth to a great man of God, that would be well known around the world and God would use him to do mighty things all over; so it was not a surprise to my mum and all people around her then because in Jeremiah Chapter 12 verse five, he said to Jeremiah that  “I ordained you a prophet before you were born” so it is something that is predestined and ordained by God. We were all raised in a family that is well disciplined, we would wake as early as 5am for morning devotion on a daily basis, whether you are two years old or not, my mother must bring you along. This is a standing order, then by 9pm, every body must come for night prayer; then everybody under that roof must fast three days in a week, you must fast on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, so the upbringing shaped me into my calling, ministry and what God called me to be, it really helped me.

Before your ministerial journey; did you work in any church, or served under any man of God?

Like I always say; I have indirectly been influenced by lots of men of God, you know you can influence somebody indirectly; you can mentor somebody indirectly or directly, maybe through books, television, and so on. I was born in Benin City, so I was privileged to be under the teaching of Archbishop Benson Idahosa, I was greatly influenced by this great man of God and some other ministers, just as you have your biological father and a spiritual father.

Were you a member of any church before you started your ministry?

No, I was not a member of any church, as a matter of fact, we used to do fellowship, and fellowship is not a church. When I came to Lagos, I never belonged to any church, so we started Liberation City in one room, in the house of an Anglican priest, Reverend Chuks Eleaze, he was of great help to this ministry. You know if you are coming from a ministry, you have already had a platform and people know you but this ministry started from the scratch.

And in less than 10 years, the church has gone so far?

That is why I said it is nothing but God’s doing, when the hand of God is upon you, it does not matter what people say or do. Again, if everybody accepts you, that means you are not doing fine, because what you are doing should be seen as a challenge to others. It is a problem to the kingdom of darkness, so when Jesus came being the son of God in the image of man, everybody never supported him, they said a lot of things about him, the consistency and the sustainability made him know if God is here or not.

People have also asked whether you had any theological training.

I told you I was tutored by Archbishop Benson Idahosa. It depends on what you mean; there is one thing we fail to understand, bible school does not make you; it is God that calls people, sometimes you may go to a bible school and not be called, so this is the fact. Let me show you something in the bible, Mathew 10, so you can know the difference between calling and the bible school. That does not mean we don’t study, if you go to my study room, I have read over 1,000 books, the bible in that verse said he called and gave them power; the bible did not say the bible school but he called his chosen one. I did not go to any bible school, I don’t have any certificate from any bible school, so the holy bible is my bible school.

You talked about opposition, what has kept you going despite various oppositions to your style of ministry?

It is God, I remember Act of the Apostle Chapter Five, they were prosecuting the apostles, and there was a time they were arrested and on the verge to kill them, a man who was an unchristian fellow, said something, so this was the level Jesus went through in the hand of the opposition, so what keeps us going is that God is on our side again. If the opposition is not there; we will not be on our toes, I pray 7-9hours a day, if the opposition is not there, I might not be praying so long, we might think everything is okay and probably be relaxing. The enemies and opposition are useful in so many ways, I have this understanding that the people of Israeli had enemies in their days when they took them captive into Egypt, the bible tells us the people of Egypt oppressed them so much, so Egyptians became so lazy that all the work then were assigned to the Israelites as punishment but today the best engineers around the world are from Israel. The Egyptians taught they were punishing the Israelites not knowing they were preparing them for a great future, so your enemy can be of help without you knowing it. God said I will help and be with you, so if God said ‘do this, I will be with you, so we are not afraid, if the Lord be for you who shall be against you’.

People say Dr. Chris Okafor is charming and attractive, how do you cope with the issue of women which we all believe is one of the factors that pull many men of God down?

I have always said this, I don’t give my house address to everybody, there are  deliberate walls built around me that make it so impossible and difficult for anybody to break. There are deliberate walls, for example for the fact that I have an appointment with you, you will not come here except you are invited. I have a protocol officer and some  police men that mount my security network, so it will be difficult for you to break in. Also; you can’t find me outside, I don’t go to events, functions or social places, my movement is house to church, church to house except if I want to travel, then you see me at the airport. Also, I only relax for some time at home because I must wake up at 2am on a daily basis to pray till 7am, so I usually sleep in the day time.

What prophesy do you have for the country again because at the beginning of the year you gave some and all the prophecies have come to pass, which other one do you have?

God has been accurate, God is not a static one, God is progressive and creative and the bible says every secret belongs to God. He reveals in order to redeem, there were some prophecies that were given during our cross over night and some are still coming. I remember vividly that God gave a revelation that the NUJ should pray against untimely death among its members and if possible, the NUJ members should come together to pray so that more danger will be averted, but not too long while we were praying, we heard one of their editors was killed. After the prophecy,  God revealed another prophecy about plane crash. Two weeks ago; a plane crash was averted through prayer, it is not that I am a prophet of doom, prophesying evil, no, God reveals to redeem, and what is the essence of revealing if it is not to be heard. God spoke to me exclusively that the current president, Goodluck Jonathan would be Nigeria’s president after 2015 general election, there would be a lot of battles, there would be a lot of court cases concerning his election but at the end of the day, he would still remain the president because God showed me specifically that he has been ordained to run for two terms.  God has already declared it to me, mark what I said; if it did not come to pass know, I am not a man of God.

So, will you say Nigeria is working?

Yes, Nigeria is working with prayers; Nigeria has about 180million people, if the truth must be told, the kind of the system we run, one man cannot do the magic for the country to function well. The states get their allocation each month from the federal government. Now if the federal government gives  allocation to states and they refuse to make good use of it, then what will the president do, this should be a collective effort. I am lifting up Nigeria before God, this Boko Haram battle you are seeing is not a physical challenge but a spiritual challenge. We have to pray now and it’s going to be a thing of the past.

Why don’t you belong to CAN, PFN and other Christian bodies?

No, I belong to these bodies but I believe in them, they are Christian associations, so if I don’t attend the meeting, maybe I am not around but one of my pastors would always represent me.

When did you start two Sunday services in your church and what is the reason for this?

In the month of February 2014, Liberation City began two Sunday services, and because of space we took these steps to curtail the traffic and human congestion in the streets. We concluded  that we should begin to run two services, so the first service starts by 6.45-10.30am while second starts by 11am -1pm.

Why do some men of God speak ill of you?

With the level of what God has given to me; you should expect that. I have nothing against anybody, no pastor is my enemy, if you have anything against me or if there is anything I have done to offend you, you can go to God and if you are a pastor; go to God for prayer. Like I told you; without fear or doubt, many pastors will not say what I am telling you now. Prophet TB Joshua is a man of God, so whether they are against me or not, they are not God that called me, so why should I take panadol for another person’s headache.
