Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has won the keenly contested Imo West Senatorial election conducted on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

The governor who is the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Imo West Senatorial district defeated the sitting senator, Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with a landslide margin.

Okorocha polled 97,762 votes to outwit his closest rival, Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 63,117 votes while Senator Osita Izunaso got 30,923 votes.

This was announced on Monday, February 25, 2019 by the returning officer for the district, Prof. Francis Ibeawuchi at the collation center in Orlu Local Government Area.
