NDDC In N200 Billion Fraud Mess

Bassey Dan AbiaTop Management staffers of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) are now scared to their pants because of the N200billion fraud rocking the agency. Insiders told us that some of them have started moving their personal effects from offices as they are afraid that President Muhamadu Buhari will give them the NNPC treatment.

Mr. Samuel Ukura, the Auditor-General of the Federation special audit report on the NDDC revealed that N183billion has been embezzled at the NDDC. He said N70.4billion was paid to contractors who never came to site for any job.

He revealed the NDDC spent N90.4billion as extra budgetary expenditure for Head and sub-heads without approval by the legal authorities. The Accountant-General of the Federation added that the NDDC management deducted N10billion for tax and they did not remit the money to the Federal Inland Revenue Service and N5.8billion was paid to contractors for projects they did not execute.

Also, he revealed that N1.2billion tax was not deducted from the money paid to contractors and N3.1billion was paid to an authorized account staff advances were not accounted for. Also, he said N787million meant to supply furniture to schools in Delta State developed wings and no single furniture was supplied to the Delta State Schools. All these are in the report he submitted to the national assembly.
