Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde has disclosed that the State Government will continue to synergize and explore all its communication outfits to ensure that those living in the inland parts of the State are adequately informed about the activities of the present administration.

The Commissioner said that the Ministry is working closely with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Communications to further expand the reach of government information and involve those living in rural areas in the business of government.

Ayorinde disclosed this on Monday while receiving members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Information & Strategy who paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry in line with their oversight function.

He said that the Ministry had been in the forefront of harnessing all means of communication in order to reach out to Lagosians in all parts of the State. This is in addition to its robust online platforms to engage a critical segment of the people, stressing that no State Government, including the Federal Government could boast of a formidable online followers like Lagos State Government.

He noted that plans have already been concluded to equip the communication outfits of the State Government, especially its broadcast media to meet up with growing trends in the industry and reposition them to compete at par with leading broadcast organizations across the country.

The Commissioner gave assurance that grassroots mobilization would be improved upon just as the cultural heritage, norms and belief system of the inland dwellers would be showcased to the outside world through the various communication platforms.

Speaking on the importance of the visit, the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Hon. Tunde Buraimoh, who led the delegation stated that the visit was part of the oversight duties of the Committee, adding that similar visits had been made to other parastatals and agencies under the Ministry.

He commended the government for the state-of-the-art equipment purchased for the Traffic Radio and Printing Corporation and called for similar gesture for other agencies.

The Chairman expressed confidence in the leadership of the Ministry, describing the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary as capable leaders that would bring about desired changes in information management in the State.
