Kayode Fayemi Celebrates 50th Birthday In Low Key

Gov. Kayode FayemiTurning 50 has its attractions, though as one approaches the golden age, the perks of youth take a gradual bow and life unfolds more meaningfully. That was another milestone for Dr. Kayode Fayemi, when he attains the golden age on Monday, February 9th, 2015.

Since he left office, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, must have realized how transient life is, and more importantly that in politics, there is no permanent friend, only permanent interest.

Last year when he was still in power, he celebrated his wife, Bisi’s 50th birthday with pomp and circumstance in company with good friends from the country’s high society. With limitless cash and unbridled power at his beck and call, the present looked grand, and the future looked even more promising. Then, the country’s major newspapers would be pulsating with congratulatory adverts placed by friends, family and loyalists who frequently sought his audience and goodwill.

Others had also looked forward to seeing numerous pages of congratulatory adverts in the newspapers. But that was not to be, unlike in the days when he was still the number one citizen of Ekiti State.

Kayode scorned any celebration that would be infused with lyrical tribute in his honour, stressing he would rather appreciate more modest means of appreciating his attainment.

It was as if she had called her friends and political associates to shun the frenzy that usually greeted such a milestone celebration. The soft-spoken man was neither reported to have planned any big party nor booked some cities around the world for celebration as has become the vogue.However, we were informed his family organised a celebratory shindig in his honour.
