Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Aloysious Katsina-Alu is dead. He died on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness. He died at the age of 77.

His death was confirmed by Awassam Bassey, Special Assistant on Media to the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.

For those who don’t know, Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu was born on August 28, 1941. He was a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He hailed from Ushongo, Benue State. He was a member of the court since 1998.

Aloysius was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday December 30, 2009 by his predecessor, Idris Legbo Kutigi as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
