Group Protests At Edo Assembly

A group under the Edo State Civil Societies Organisation last week staged a protest in front of Edo State House of Assembly Complex over the recent crisis in the assembly.

The group had a mock Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader and 21 other members to represent the 24 local government areas of Edo State.

A member of group, Ophelia Okoruwa, lamented that the warring lawmakers failed to adhere to the advice of the Benin monarch by allowing peace to reign in the interest of the state.

“It is really a sad situation that at this point in time, even after the Omo N’Oba himself called everyone to order, they refused to listen to him. Who then will they listen to?

The mock Speaker, Curtis Igbo, explained that the mock session was held to demonstrate the disapproval of the people of the state over the misdemeanors of the lawmakers.
